At the 9th High-Level Dialogue on ASEAN–Italy Economic Relations hosted by Vietnam, Senior Minister SOK Siphana highlighted the serious impacts arising from the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict to the delegations. He emphasized that Thailand’s unilateral closure of the border and suspension of the peace deal, witnessed by the U.S. and Malaysia, had severely affected the ASEAN Connectivity and other key ASEAN infrastructure projects such as the ASEAN Highway, the ASEAN Railway, and the ASEAN Regional Power Grid. He called for collective consideration of the grave consequences that could threaten regional stability and security.
